TAMA Yakin recently accepted a trainee from the Dual System Department of Tama Technical High School.

The Dual System Course is an educational system in which schools and companies collaborate to nurture "manufacturing professionals" and provide job training over a longer period of time than an internship. It is expected to help students learn about the company, increase their interest in manufacturing, and prevent early job separation due to mismatches after they are actually employed. Tama Yakin has been accepting students since 2018, when the Dual System Department was established at Tama Technical High School. This time, the practical training period was about one month.

Recently, trainees visited the South Plant with members of the Tama Cross-Industrial Exchange Association 22 (an organization established in 2010 with the support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute and Tama Techno Plaza, a regional independent administrative corporation).

Following a company presentation by Mr. Yamada, Vice President of TAMAYAKIN, the trainees visit a nitriding furnace for carburizing and nitrocarburizing, a carburizing furnace for vacuum carburizing, a washing machine, and an automatic transfer machine. After that, it was time for the trainees to make their presentations. The students said they had been nervous since the morning, but they had prepared their scripts properly.

In his presentation, he explained that TAMAYAKIN performs heat treatment and that there are two types of heat treatment, vacuum heat treatment and atmospheric heat treatment, and the differences between them. The students had experienced working at a processing site, and it was wonderful to see that they understood the purpose of the work they performed.

After the presentation, the trainees said, "It was fun! and we look forward to the future of these positive trainees.
